Task 2 for week 9

Post on your blog no later than 4th March

We've watched several TED talks and documentaries(click or copy links to watch again).

Talk 1: Evan Williams on Listening to Twitter users: http://www.ted.com/talks/podtv/id/473
Talk 2: Jimmy Wales on the Birth of Wikipedia : http://www.ted.com/talks/podtv/id/37
Talk 3: Johanna Blakley on Social Media and the en of Gender: http://www.ted.com/talks/podtv/id/1066
Talk 4: Clay Shirky on How Social Media can make History: http://www.ted.com/talks/podtv/id/575

Backlight: The Truth about Wikipedia
Tegenlicht: Google achter de schermen

You can look up these talks on TED.com, and on the site you could even use the English subtitles! The documentaries can be found via YouTube

assignment: Bearing in mind all those talks, answer ONE of the following questions! (in approx. 500 words!!!! put this on your blog)

1. Explain how social media make history. Don't just summarize Shirky's talk, but show what you've learned about social media, and show some critical thinking!
2. In the talks you viewed and the documentaries you watched you've seen what bias is. Do you think the NPOV principle was applied in all documentaries and talks? Pick one, two or more to discuss! (Editing from a neutral point of view (NPOV) means representing fairly, proportionately, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources.)

tasks 1 for week 9

This tasks should be posted on your blog before or at the very latest on March 4th

Task 1: Write a comparative commentary using the commentary wheel. Analyse your text first, using the outer Sphere (observations!!) Then use the structure of the comparative commentary to write about your inner sphere: the interpretation! So, analyse according to the wheel, and structure your cc and write it according to the second page on the hand-out.

Good luck!
Any issue or questions: send me an email through ELO (regular mail won't work)
